This site serves as a professional e-portfolio reflecting my work across IT training, digital skills, and education. CalypsoIT is the business name under which I have worked since 2010, originating as a digital consultancy and evolving alongside my work in education and training.
I’ve worked with computers since buying my first Macintosh SE in 1988, originally helping friends with CVs and promotional material. That early curiosity developed into a career spanning different systems, industries, and roles, with a consistent focus on adapting to change and using technology in practical ways.
My background includes administration, logistics, inventory control, and IT-related roles in both Ireland and the UK. These experiences shaped a strong understanding of how technology supports real people and day-to-day processes, not just systems in isolation.
After moving to Tramore, Co. Waterford, I returned to education as a mature student while raising my daughter. Balancing family life, work, and study was challenging, and my academic journey was not linear. I completed my BSc (Hons) in Information Technology in 2019, building on earlier studies in Multimedia Applications Development — graduating in the same year as my daughter completed her own honours degree.
This experience has strongly shaped my understanding of adult learners, non-traditional pathways, and the realities many people face when returning to education later in life.
Today, I work as an IT trainer and consultant, delivering digital skills and technology-focused training across adult, community, and further education. My interests lie in inclusive, practical, and learner-centred use of technology, supporting confidence, capability, and meaningful learning.
